To use it you’ll first screw the cap onto the bottle, then insert the straw through the clear silicone valve. This cap is splash resistant. It will keep your water in its place during light turbulence on a flight somewhere fabulous, but if tipped over in your bag some water may spill out. It’s dishwasher safe on the top rack like everything we make, and the valve is removable so you can wash all the parts thoroughly for zero yuck.

 In 2011, Tal and Kate launched bkr with a focus on one main concept which in their minds was Beauty 101: drinking water is the foundation for soft, dewy, pretty skin–and hydrating shouldn’t be so hard. The clean, addictive, cult favorite, small-mouth, original glass water bottle was sustainable and eco at its core, but it also made drinking water blissful and easy for a change and people started noticing. A growing obsession with the pretty little bottle resulted in reports that people were finally truly hydrated and, as a result, they were looking and feeling better. And, as it's said, the rest is history.

The straws come in a package of three and are available in 250ml, 500ml, and 1L, just the right size for each bkr. Belart, a Fair Trade certified company, created by Tulianna and Alejandra Garcés, is a socially conscious jewelry line that provides sustainable employment to internally displaced communities located in post-conflict regions in Colombia. When the company was created more than fifteen years ago, the mother-daughter team set out to confront a humanitarian crisis with deep roots by creating revenue and sustainable employment for those trapped in the lowest levels of poverty: women and indigenous peoples. Tom and Joanne Sullivan owned Hollywood Chairs in North Hollywood, supplying directors chairs to top movie and television productions. In a quest to improve upon their famously comfortable foldable chairs, the Sullivans began experimenting with other material options. They wanted something lighter than their existing oak chairs yet still strong enough to last through the production of a blockbuster picture (and its inevitable sequels). After exhaustive research, they found one material fit the bill better than any other — bamboo! Bamboo has a higher tensile strength than steel, yet is light enough for anyone to easily carry. Not only is bamboo a better material option, but it’s better for the planet too. When harvested, bamboo's roots remain and quickly regenerate. It’s a truly remarkable and renewable resource. The success of bamboo in chairs led Tom and Joanne to consider other uses for this amazing material. They used their combined art and design backgrounds to invent the FIRST bamboo cutting board. This cutting board crafted from “engineered bamboo,” was light and durable, harder than maple yet gentle on knives. With this brilliant innovation, Totally Bamboo was born! Totally Bamboo has continued to innovate since the inception of the bamboo cutting board and offers masterfully crafted solutions in a wide variety of home and gift categories.
