It’s difficult not to fall under the charm of Provence handicrafts. The Guinea Fowl or Pintades as they are known in France, are undeniably part of this category. These life- sized ceramic poultry with their generous stylized lines are made of clay and hand glazed. Each features a graphic, spotted white-blue plumage that contrasts with their little faces. A family tradition initiated by Heidi Caillard 40 years ago has endured and has made the adorable guinea fowl a classic of its kind.

Meet the Maker:

Come and discover in our workshop in Lussan or in our shop in Uzes, a set of original creations on the animal theme including the famous "guinea fowl of Lussan". These polished, unique birds are a colorful or neutral accent to any space in the home. Heidi Caillard started making ceramic Guinea Hens in 1974 in the small town of Lussan in the Provence Region of the south of France. Since 1994, her son Adrien has continued her legacy and still produces this one of a kind craft in Lussan.
